They say that, « Food is a universal language that transcends borders, needing no translation to communicate emotions, care and cultural identity » —and so, students understood the theme at hand, which was « Identity & Exchange » and did just that.
Through cake, students put the message forward: by speaking the languages used in our school, notably; French/German/Spanish/Italian/Gabonese Vernacular and English, of course! —-languages carried the day.
Languages are more than just tools for communication; they are gateways to cultures, traditions, and ways of thinking. The 11th edition of « La Semaine des Langues Vivantes« , held from 11 to 15 May 2026, celebrated linguistic diversity under the inspiring theme « Les Langues pour Comprendre le Monde. » Throughout the week, students explored how languages connect people across continents and deepen our understanding of different cultures.

Culture Without Borders Podcast
« La Classe deSeconde » took us on a fascinating journey across cultures through their projects, done in groups. One group took us through « Culture Without Borders. » Their presentations highlighted the richness and uniqueness of different civilizations. They came up with a « The Green Echo Journal » as seen herein, and the « Culture Without Borders Podcast ».
Another group explored « Greek Culture« , introducing the class & participants to the historical and cultural legacy of Greece, often regarded as the cradle of Western civilization.
The cultural voyage concluded with a captivating monologue on South Korean Culture, offering insights into South Korea’s modern identity, traditions, and growing global influence through entertainment, technology, and language.
They further immersed everyone in the vibrant world of Muslim culture/Brazillian & /Mexican Culture, showcasing its colorful traditions, music, and influence around the globe.
Premier GT1: Understanding the World through Culinary Skills
The students of Premier GT1 demonstrated how food can serve as a universal language that brings people together. Through their podcasts under the theme, « Understanding the World through Culinary Skills, » they highlighted the connection between cuisine, culture, and identity.
They say, food unites people, and so does cake: you might see some words in Spanish, German,French all under one umbrella…« Language is like cake »/« Sabrosa »etc… , are some of the words that were inscribed on the students impressions & expressions …

The Yummy Group explored culinary traditions and the stories behind them. The presentation « Around the World with Different Cuisine » invited the audience to discover flavors and cooking practices from various countries, emphasizing the diversity of global gastronomy.

The 11th edition of La Semaine des Langues Vivantes successfully demonstrated that languages are powerful bridges between people and cultures. Through podcasts, presentations, monologues, and cultural explorations, students broadened their horizons and deepened their appreciation for the world’s rich diversity.
By embracing the theme « Les Langues pour Comprendre le Monde, » participants showed that learning languages is not only about mastering words but also about understanding cultures, building connections, and becoming responsible global citizens.
