Learning English Through Games

In our English class, we have been learning in a creative and interactive way by using board
games. These games are not only fun, but they also help us improve our vocabulary, speaking
skills, and teamwork. Here are some of the games we have used:

  1. Snakes and Ladders
This classic game is simple but very engaging. Players roll the dice and move their tokens on
a numbered board. If they land on a ladder, they go up; if they land on a snake, they slide
down. While playing, we practiced using vocabulary such as up, down, climb, fall, and
expressions like “It’s your turn!” or “I won!” It helped us speak naturally and learn through
    repetition.
  2. Monopoly
Monopoly is a strategy-based game about buying and trading properties. We played the
English version, which allowed us to learn vocabulary related to money, real estate, and
negotiation — such as rent, bankrupt, buy, sell, and chance. We had to talk, negotiate, and
make decisions in English, which made it a very useful speaking exercise.
  3. Scrabble
Scrabble is a word-building game where players use letter tiles to create words on the board.
It’s perfect for improving our spelling, discovering new words, and thinking critically. We
challenged ourselves to create the longest and most complex words we could. It was a great
way to expand our vocabulary in a fun and competitive environment.
These games made learning enjoyable and helped us use English in a real and practical
context. Thanks to them, we feel more confident expressing ourselves and using the language
    in everyday situations.
